Roaming
Thru Europe
the blog written by an American baby-boomer
and dedicated to
American baby-boomers, in general and
women, in particular
who have decided to take a moment or two to smell the roses - while travelling in Europe.
During each slow travel, soft adventure, self-drive tour, I will focus on a
specific area or region in one of the countries that I love most: Germany,
France, Italy, Switzerland.
I will roam ‘off the beaten path’…
I will roam ‘off the beaten path’…
- following twisty country roads
- visiting small towns and villages in the countryside
- eating (and drinking!!) wherever and whenever the mood dictates from beer gardens to local pubs and watering holes, to small, inexpensive, locally-recommended eateries as well as highly recommended gourmet restaurants
- staying in small family-owned hotels and pensions, as well as in romantic hideaways
- visiting fairy-tale castles and palaces as well as museums and other cultural, religious and historic sites
- attending classical concerts in former monasteries and cloisters as well as rock concerts in Roman ruins and in the open air
- 'sampling' the wares at beer and wine fests
- meeting, socializing and 'generally' interacting with the locals
- having my morning coffee in little cafes and an early evening repast in outdoor cafes
- traipsing through vineyards (while stopping to sample the local product) and meandering along river paths
- watching romantic sunrises and sunsets.
And through it all, I will be tweeting, blogging and writing about what I am doing, seeing and feeling.
