On
Wednesday, I drove to Bayreuth and then to Coburg. I found a
waschsalon in Bayreuth.
They actually did my laundry for me (although it did take several hours). Since
I had to wait for the laundry to be finished, I decided to drive to Coburg. This little city located on the border to the
former East Germany
apparently has not been on the tourist track. What a mistake!! Coburg - and the little town just before it
(Untersiemau) - are true gems!!! Beautiful architecture!! I will put photos of
both on the website and on Pinterest.
Yes, I now have a Pinterest account!!
Bayreuth is a nice sleepy city (after the famous
music festival the town goes into deep hibernation!!)… with apparently only one
bank with a ‘no fee’ cash machine. Check out the buildings in the center of
town and then go to Maximillian strasse to get some cash at Commerzbank. I
could not find the bank and ended up going to the local Sparkasse (savings
bank) and paid a 4,50€ fee!!
In terms of
provisioning, if you need some wine… or perhaps something to eat, check out the
EDEKA just outside of Bayreuth, on the road to Coburg. It is great!!
Nice selection of wine and cheeses.
The very little town of Untersiemau - just outside of Coburg. This is such a little town, there is absolutely nothing to do there except park your car and walk around for 5 or 10 minutes.
Coburg is a great place to have lunch or
even stay overnight.
