Well it just goes to prove that no matter where you are in
Europe, there are interesting things to see. This is a photo of a city-wall and
some half-wood houses ( Fachwerkhauser) in some little town which is just
outside of Hammersbach (also a tiny little town) on the way to Hanau. People
(short people, that is) still live in these houses which were constructed
hundreds of years ago. The ceilings are
really low and even I, at 5’3” am able to touch the ceiling with an upraised
arm. Guys who are close to 6’, have to constantly
duck to avoid the beams which protrude from the ceiling.
Hey, do horses have furry coats? I did not take a picture of
them, but on Sunday as I was getting out of the car at the pension, there were
two riders on horseback coming out of the fields*. The hair on one horse’s back was the normal
length but at the top of the thighs, the hair became furry. The other horse was
completely furry (legs, neck, back, tail) …like a big, big dog! Really cute and
cuddly!!
* Throughout Germany, the paths which the farmers use to move their
vehicles from one parcel of land to the other are all paved. The
paths extend for miles and people use them to walk their dogs, jog, bike ride,
and for Sunday strolls. On Sundays, as the strollers return, it looks a bit
like the Stepford wives emerging from the forest!! More on the layout of the farmers
land and the villages when I do the March website.
