Well, I arrived…. So far so good!!!  Forgot to reserve a room until the last minute so I was a bit nervous. But I found a website*  that lists pensions (guest houses) throughout Germany. Sent 3 email´s, got 3 quick responses. Unfortunately, a major trade fair in Frankfurt limited my choices. Not much available in a radius of 50 kilometers of the fair (which includes Mainz / Wiesbaden )... but I found a nice place on the far side of Frankfurt (totally opposite direction from Mainz [!!]). Private room with shower and shared kitchen facilities for 20€ per night (total).  I will stay here for 3 nights. The price is good and like all German guest facilities, it is functionally furnished, cable TV (German only - no CNN), energy saving (read: dim!!) lights, but clean, clean, clean: so clean you could probably eat off the floor... if you could see it!!  But no WiFi!!! (Not in the room and not even in this rural area.  Next time I have to remember to ask before I book!! )
